DIY PC Build not booting

Building your own PC can be a lot of fun – but its not at all fun when it doesn’t work!

For a fixed fee we can diagnose the issue and help with warranty claims for your online supplier.

Alternatively we can also quote you on replacement parts we can source locally to solve your issues.

Computer Build not booting?

Why do we charge this fee?

Most DIY build parts are still under warranty and as such you’re unlikley to need to purcahse anything from us to get your computer working.

Sometimes we will literally spend hours swapping out components and running tests with “known good” cards in order to get to the bottom of your issue.

We’ve found that a flat, upfront fee is the most fair way to approach and charge for this service.

Power Supply Check

About 30% of the time, the issue is with modular power supplies. Inexperienced consumers connect the motherboard power supply cord, to the CPU power supply and cook the CPU and Motherboard. It’s VERY EASY to do this, and we see it all the time.

Ram Check

Failing or DOA sticks of RAM can cause a computer not to boot.

Sometimes improper ordering or failure to correctly configure the motherboard can also cause issues with RAM / Booting

GPU Check

The prize piece of your build! At about $1500 + a 3 month wait Nobody likes a bad graphics card.

Thankfully however we’ve found that most DIY build GPU’s are not the cause of any major issues.

Motherboard HEaders

These at the little black pins which connect the Power On, Restart and other bottons and lights.

People new to the DIY PC Build scene usually get these around the wrong way. 🙂

Faulty Parts

Despite your best efforts and ours, sometimes you’ve just got a faulty part.

We can offer a local replacement option for you to buy, or recommend how to get a replacement from your supplier.

Warranty Report

Some suppliers want an independent report to certify that the PC indeed does not work.

We are able to do this for you as part of the assessment charge.

Just had a very good experience with this store today. I just went in there to ask for help with a stripped screw inside of a laptop and they fixed it on the spot. The person working there was very friendly as well. Would come here for anything I can't fix myself and recommend this place to others.

Great assistance. I spoke with Gary on the phone, describing how my pc had no video output. I'd already swapped out monitors, cables and vid cards... still nothing. Gary advised me to try something. He suggested I remove and re-seat my RAM and, after following his clear and simple instructions on what to do, my pc was back. I'd fixed it myself, thanks to Gary, who sure knows his stuff. Well done and thankyou Vivid Computers.

Highly recommend Vivid Computers. Friendly, efficient service. Dropped off my laptop, received diagnosis and quote for repair that day. Would have been able to pick it up the following afternoon but for COVID hiccup which forced them to close temporarily. Very happy with their work. They will be my go to from now on for any issues I have.
