Common problems, explained
Random shutdowns and restarts
Often caused by overheating, a weak power supply, or a failing part. We look for the pattern and test under load.
Power supply failure
The power supply feeds every part of the computer. A failing one can cause anything from no power to random crashes.
Blue screens
Blue-screen errors can be software, drivers or hardware such as RAM or a drive. We work out which before changing anything.
Failing hard drive or SSD
Clicking noises, very slow start-up or files that won't open can mean the drive is failing. Back up now if you can — and if it's clicking, see our clicking hard drive guide.
Overheating and dust
Desktops pull in a lot of dust over time. Clogged fans and heatsinks make the computer run hot, loud and slow.
Gaming PC crashes
Crashes during games are often heat, power or graphics card related. We test the system under load to find the cause.

Windows 11 readiness
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025. Some older PCs don't meet Windows 11 requirements. We can check yours and explain whether an upgrade, a replacement part or a different computer makes most sense.

- Repair and test — we fix it and check it's stable.
- Collect — pick it up from the workshop.

- The computer tower and its power cable
- Your Windows password, or we can test with you present
- Any device involved in the problem, such as a monitor or keyboard
- If it still runs, back up your important files first
Slow rather than broken?
A lot of slow desktops just need an SSD or RAM upgrade. We'll tell you whether an upgrade will actually make a difference for your machine before recommending it.
Repair or replace?
Replacing a single failed part is often good value on a desktop. If the computer is old, can't run Windows 11 and needs several parts, we'll tell you honestly whether it's still worth spending money on.
Desktop repair questions
Do I need to bring the monitor and keyboard?
Usually just the computer tower and its power cable. If the problem involves the screen, keyboard or another device, bring that too so we can test the whole setup.
Can you check whether my PC can run Windows 11?
Yes. Windows 10 support ended in October 2025, and some older PCs don't meet Windows 11 requirements. We can check yours and explain your options.

Yes — home PCs, gaming rigs, custom builds and office workstations.
How much will a desktop repair cost?
It depends on what's wrong and which parts are needed. We diagnose the computer first and quote before any work starts.
