Laptop Overheating & Fan Repairs in Grange, Adelaide
Laptop getting very hot, the fan roaring or the laptop shutting itself off? It's usually the cooling system. Bring it into our Grange Road workshop and we'll find out why it's overheating.
Signs of a cooling problem
- Hot underneath, even with light use
- The fan is loud or runs all the time
- Grinding, rattling or clicking from the fan
- The laptop slows down or shuts off under load
- It turns off soon after starting
Common causes
Dust and lint blocking the fan and heatsink, a worn fan, blocked vents (for example using the laptop on a bed or couch), or heavy software running in the background.
What we do
We check temperatures and the fan, clean out the cooling system, and replace a worn or noisy fan where a part is available for your model. If software is the cause, we'll tell you.
Gaming laptops
Gaming laptops work their cooling hard and build up dust faster. If yours crashes or slows down during games, a cooling check is a good first step. For gaming desktops, see desktop computer repairs.
Price and timing
It depends on your model and whether a part is needed. Simple advice is free; if a detailed diagnosis is needed it's $70, which comes off the bill if you go ahead with the repair. We quote before any work starts. Warranty depends on the part used and is confirmed on your quote.
