Laptop Hinge Repairs in Grange, Adelaide
A broken or stiff hinge usually gets worse each time you open the lid, and it can crack the case or damage the screen cable. Bring it into our Grange Road workshop and we'll check what's actually broken before we quote.
Signs your hinge needs attention
- The screen wobbles or won't stay up
- The lid is stiff, creaks or grinds
- The case is splitting near the hinge
- A gap is opening between the screen and its frame
- The screen flickers when you move the lid
Hinge, mount or lid?
Several different things can fail: the metal hinge itself, the plastic mounts or screw posts the hinge is fixed to, the lid or bezel, or the screen cable that runs through the hinge. We inspect the laptop to work out which, because that decides what the repair involves.
Repair options
Depending on what we find: replacing the hinges, repairing or replacing the mounts or housing where parts are available for your model, replacing a damaged screen cable, or our honest advice if the repair isn't worth it.
Until you bring it in
Open and close the lid gently from the middle, not the corner, and don't force it past where it wants to stop.
Price and timing
It depends on your model, what's broken and part availability. Simple advice is free; if a detailed diagnosis is needed it's $70, which comes off the bill if you go ahead with the repair. We quote before any repair starts. Warranty depends on the part used and is confirmed on your quote.
