Glass damage vs display damage

A tablet screen is made of layers, and which one is damaged makes a big difference:

• Glass only — the top glass is cracked, but the picture underneath looks normal and touch works.
• Display (LCD or OLED) damage — you see black patches, lines, colour bleeding or no picture at all, even if the glass looks fine.
• Both — common after a hard drop.

Touch problems

If the tablet registers touches you didn't make, ignores parts of the screen or doesn't respond at all, the touch layer may be damaged. Software can cause similar symptoms, so we check that first.

Fused screens

On many tablets the glass, touch layer and display are bonded together into one part. That means a cracked glass often needs the whole assembly replaced, which affects the cost. We'll explain what applies to your model.

Assessment first

We look at the tablet, work out which parts are damaged and whether a replacement is worthwhile on your model. You get a clear quote, and nothing happens until you approve.

A quick note

Tablet screens are often fused to other components, so replacement makes sense on some models and not others. We'll tell you straight up before any work is booked in.
